Oral Cancer Awareness in Jacksonville

About Oral Cancer:

Oral cancer is cancer of the throat or mouth. Oral cancer will be diagnosed in an estimated 30,000 Americans this year, and will cause more than 8,000 deaths.  This  disease kills approximately one person every hour.  Oral cancer is the 6th most common cancer in men and the 14th most common cancer in women. The death rate for oral cancer is higher than that of cervical cancer, Hodgkin's disease, cancer of the liver, testes, kidney, or brain.  Oral cancer can spread very quickly. On average, only half of those diagnosed with the disease will survive more than five years. It is important to find oral cancer as early as possible when it can be treated more successfully. Early detection of oral cancer is the key to curing this disease.
